NanoFil™ syringes - Gas Tight Injection System

WPI’s NanoFil™ is a specially designed, gas-tight microliter syringe developed specifically for ultra-precise, low-volume fluid transfer that boasts consistency in its performance—with virtually zero dead volume. Microliter-level injections with NanoFil™ provide incredible accuracy with results you can trust.

Adventages of NanoFil™ syringes

  • NanoFil™ is the smallest dead volume microinjection system
  • Biologically compatible injection syringe
  • Various needle sizes available: 26-36G
  • Blunt or tri-beveled needles
  • Compatible with WPI's UMP3 microinjection system for precision injections

Benefits

  • Virtually zero dead volume microinjection syringe (0.5 µL or less)
  • Strong gas-tight seal providing both repeatability and superior application outcomes
  • Biologically compatible injection syringe (All the seals are constructed of inert materials for better chemical and biological compatibility)
  • Switching the syringe tip during an experiment is easy
  • Variety of injection tip options (needles and quartz tubing)
  • Unique tri-beveled needles for easier penetration

Applications of NanoFil™ syringes

  • Animal research, viral targeting (e.g. AAV construct, DREADDS)
  • Capillary electrophoresis
  • Versatile research applications, ophthalmology with usage of Retinal Pigment Epithelial (RPE) and Intra Ocular (IO) injection kits

Gas-Tight Control in NanoFil™ Syringe

Gas-tight control is particularly critical for applications requiring utmost accuracy and precision during low-volume fluid handling. Having a quality gas-tight design ensures a vacuum-like seal between the syringe and needle, supplying the necessary force to advance small samples forward during delivery, and upwards during withdraw. NanoFil’s virtual zero dead-volume comes from its thoughtfully designed coupling mechanism, where all WPI NanoFil™ needles insert directly into the syringe barrel, creating a 1:1 connection with the syringe’s plunger. Priming your syringe is made effortless with unparalleled control, supported by a sure-seal, gas-tight system.

Functionality & versatility

WPI’s NanoFil™ promotes a range of applications, supported by our universal NanoFil™ needles – where all gauges are fully interchangeable and compatible with all NanoFilTM syringes.
NanoFil™ Intraocular (IO) and Retinal Pigment Epithelium (RPE) kits diversify the integration for fine-tuned fluid transfer into sensitive tissue, mitigating user error. NanoFil™ syringes easily attach to WPI’s UMP3 syringe pump paired to a stereotaxic or manipulator-fixed setups for enhanced control.

NanoFil™ needles

The replaceable needles used with the NanoFil are available with either blunt or beveled tip designs. The blunt tip is used for injection into soft tissue and when a uniform solution distribution is needed. The beveled style NanoFil needles are used for applications that involve the penetration through a tough tissue. Nanofil needles are offered in sizes of 26G to 36G (OD of 460 µm to 120 µm).

Generally, a smaller needle tip diameter is better to limit diffusion occurring at the needle tip. A 36G needle would be the best suitable needle to restrict the diffusion at the tip of the needle. Any possible error resulting from diffusion when using a 36G NanoFil needle is expected to be negligible. (The error would be in the sub-nanoliter range). Thus, the use of NanoFil needles can help you maintain better accuracy during the injection of microliter and sub-microliter volumes.
